cdm319 on "[Plugin: Sermon Manager] Empty Podcast Feed"

Hi GermanKiwi,

I resolved this issue using the same solution to "Player not working in IOS". I seems to be a fairly common problem with this plugin, which leads me to believe the developer should really have a page dedicated to it somewhere.

To fix the issue, go back through your "Sermons" and select the already uploaded MP3 file. In the box that comes up, click "File URL", then "Use as location of MP3".

It seems to be the Link URL method that breaks the podcasting feature. Despite my Wordpress installation having "FILE" as the default, I still had to perform the steps above to have the files show up in podcasting. Perhaps the default only applies to image file types?

Hope this works for you.

Thanks Chris, I appreciate that! I'll give it a go and see how I get on. :)

Cheers!

Hmm - that hasn't helped me after all. :(

I actually had not been uploading my MP3 files to the Media Library - I was uploading them (using FTP) into their own unique folder on my server, and then just pasting the URL to the MP3 file directly into the "Location of MP3" field on the Edit Sermon page (without needing to click the Upload File button). This works perfectly fine in terms of the MP3 displaying and playing on the sermon post page, but my podcast was empty like yours was.

So I've just tried using the Media Library - I've uploaded an MP3 to the Media Library, so it's in the regular Media Library location, then I've gone back to the Edit Sermon page and clicked the Upload File button there, then the Media Library tab, then selected the new MP3 file (by clicking "Show"), then clicked "File URL" which puts the URL of the MP3 file into the "Link URL" field. Then "Use as Location of MP3". This puts the new URL into the MP3 field. Save the post, and the new MP3 location works within the post itself for playback - but alas, the podcast is still empty! :(

I'm gonna have to contact the developers directly to get some help with this, I think.

Thanks for your assistance in sharing your solution though! I'm sure it will help others.

Hello,

Are there any tips you can give to add pagination and a 'posts_per_page' option to the 'sermon-images' shortcode?

It would be great to paginate pages with this shortcode for loading and scrolling purposes.

I can read and understand code if you can give steps to editing the shortcodes.php file and/or any other files.

Thank you for any help you can give, and thank you for this plugin!

Did you change the sermons slug?

If yes, you may have to go into each sermon and click "Update" so that everything is routed correctly.

I'm confused about the significance of the files in the /sm_templates folder.

1. What are they used for?

2. Can I use them in my child theme instead of overriding the files in the /views folder?

3. If I can use them in a child theme, where should the files go?

Thanks -wg

I can't edit any of the files in the /sm_templates folder ... they are all marked as "(inactive)" and insofar as I can see they aren't being used anywhere.

1. I'm using 1.8.2 and wondering, should these files be active or inactive?

2. If they are supposed to be active, how do I fix my problem? I've tried uninstalling/re-installing it but that hasn't fixed the problem.

Thanks

Hi there, thanks for this great plugin!
I have 2 questions I really need help with:
1). Please how do I use External URL Links (e.g. from my Dropbox links) rather than uploading it afresh through this plugin on Wp.
2). Also, how can I enable or allow Downloads e.g. Just below the "Series: Winter Revival 2012" to simply say: "Download Here"

Thanks!

twykr on "[Plugin: Sermon Manager] ChurchHope theme conflict?"

Hi -

We're running into a conflict of some kind between this plugin, and the "Church Hope" theme that we've recently purchased, and are trying to find some help with narrowing down or fixing the issue. We love the SB plugin, and make use of it on several other websites that we manage - so we're hoping that you'll be able to help us out :)

We've tried disabling all other plugins, as well as tested using the SB plugin with a default WP theme (Twenty Fourteen) where it works properly - so it's pretty evident the conflict is between the two items.

Here's the behavior that we're seeing:

* Create a new sermon (or edit an existing one)
* Click on 'Upload File' for the Sermon
* Click 'Media Library'
* Choose an uploaded MP3 file (or upload a new one)
* Click "Use as Location of MP3" button

At this point, the modal window goes white and stops. It does NOT return to the previous screen with the URL entered into the "Location of MP3" field.

Our best guess is that this is a jQuery-related conflict between the plugin and the theme - perhaps with the metabox functionality (since both the plugin and the theme have this library baked in)... but we're having a hard time tracking down exactly where the issue is occurring.

Any assistance or pointers you can give would be welcome!

twykr.

Hello Everyone,
Just in case anyone else might have similar questions:
1). Its already embedded so I only needed to actually try out the plugin.
2). Yet to see anyway to make this happen. For now, I'm just making do with the download link that appears on the sermon page anyway.

Thanks!

Hello,
Thanks alot! for this fab WP Plugin, Sermon Manager.
For my Church Website, I created a separate WP Sub-domain to act as the home for just our sermons.
The Plugin is so EASY to use and I already uploaded a couple of sermons only to realize that each of them don't appear automatically on the Homepage/Blog inspite of each sermon being created 'like a post' (I suppose). I was so grateful for bumping into this page on the plugin site, http://www.wpforchurch.com/knowledgebase/getting-latest-sermon-display-theme/ in my search for help but sadly, its doesn't seem to work or maybe/most likely, I'm doing something very wrong. PLEASE AT WHICH POINT EXACTLY in my index.php template do I need to insert the code?
(P.S: I'm been working with Wordpress for over 2 years so I know my way around but I'm not a coder).

My other concern is that that the lovely theme I use (Pinboard from Wp Repository) has tons of templates so do I ALSO need to add your codes to each of them or only within my index.php file?

THANKS!

Andrew Tegenkamp on "[Plugin: Sermon Manager] Feed Validation broken by Topic Entry"

I just checked into this as we use topics with spaces but it does not break the feel validation. For me, it says "Congratulations! This is a valid RSS feed." but then recommends commas to separate keywords to work with the widest range of feed readers. However, since the target of this feed is iTunes and iTunes allows phrases as keywords, it's not really an applicable recommendation in my opinion.

Also, there is no input validation that can be improved because it uses standard WordPress tagging for sermon topics. Really, the only option would be to break down the topics when generating the feed and have "Open, Doors" be the keywords but that does not really fit the goal of finding it in iTunes since you can search for phrases in iTunes (and most if not all modern RSS and podcast readers).

This will be fixed in the 1.9 release out by next week. Podcasts will get a big upgrade!
